DEVIATOR VALVE - ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION Salinity probe. Measures salinity and electrical conductivity of produced water. Instructions appear on the remote panel if the measured value is not optimal. Diverter valve. This is a solenoid valve that diverts the flow of water produced by the desalinator according to the value measured by the probe, thus preventing water with undesirable characteristics from entering the collection tank.

Electrical connections The 2 probe cables must be connected to the computer box board, to the Salinity terminals. The 2 cables of the valve must be connected to the computer box board, to the Chem and (-) terminals. Hydraulic connections The valve must be mounted downstream of the desalinator's fresh water production outlet and connected to it. Outlet 1 must be connected to the fresh water collection tank; outlet 2 must be connected to the desalinator's discharge line.

Messages concerning the salinity/conductivity probe

S = Wait Probe is completing measurements;

S = OK Optimal produced water quality;

S = MED Average produced water quality;

S = BAD Unsatisfactory produced water quality;

In the last case, the system should be switched off and a maintenance operation scheduled.

When the desalinator is switched on, when START is pressed, the valve comes into operation diverting fresh water production to the drain for 1 minute.

The message ‘DIVERT TO DISCHARGE’ is displayed.

If the measured conductivity value is very high for at least 15 seconds, the message ‘DIVERT TO DISCHARGE’ is displayed, the valve starts operating and diverts the produced water flow to the drain for 2 minutes 45 seconds. After a total of 3 minutes the system goes into lockout, the message ‘BAD WATER QUALITY’ appears on the display and can only be reset by pressing ‘STOP’. If during these 3 minutes the measured conductivity value falls within the S=MED or S=OK range, the valve shuts off in 10 seconds and the flow of fresh water produced resumes its normal course. The diverter valve can be bypassed by programming ‘ON’ under VALVE SWITCH BY_PASS in the menu. The message ‘DIV.VALVE BY-PASS’ appears on the display. When the Start-Up operation is carried out, the valve diverts the flow of produced water to the drain. When carrying out automatic or manual flushing operations the valve does not operate.

It is important that the voltage of the Schenker monitoring kit is compatible with that of the desalinator.
