HONDA Outboard BF 100 LRTU Long Shaft Drive
Honda BF100AK1 LRTU are outboard engines perfect for professional use, they are reliable, compact and lightweight complete with PGM-Fi electronic fuel injection system.
Honda BF100AK1 LRTU 1.5-liter outboard engine has 16 valves and a single overhead cam. In addition, the PGM-Fi electronic injection system allows for easy starting, powerful acceleration and exceptionally low fuel consumption. The VTEC™ is also available on the Honda BF100AK1 LRTU. When combined with the ECOmo, it not only offers outstanding economy, but also remarkable high-rpm performance. These outboards are lightweight and compact, and with NMEA2000® connectivity, they're a big favorite with marine enthusiasts.
Honda BF100AK1 LRTU comes complete with a patented VTEC™ system, it's an efficient system that keeps fuel consumption down while delivering an exciting increase in power. First used on Honda's Formula One cars, it delivers increased power and torque at all engine speeds. In the Honda BF100AK1 LRTU works by using two different cams:
1) When the engine is running at low rotations, the valves are operated by a cam less aggressively ensuring low consumption and excellent performance.
2) When more power is desired, as the rotations increases to 4500 rpm, the VTEC™ hydraulically operates a cam with a higher lift profile. This keeps the valves open longer, getting more air into the combustion chamber to produce optimum power, like a Formula One race car. At this point, the outboard takes on a completely different personality that will be noticeable both to the ear and in performance.
Honda BF100AK1 LRTU features the BLAST™ Ready Start System, which gets the outboard up to speed in seconds. The BLAST™ (Boosted Low Speed Torque) delivers high torque even at low rotations by unleashing powerful thrust from startup. The ECU automatically advances the ignition timing, while increasing the fuel-to-air ratio to give you more thrust from low rpm. This innovative technology patented for Honda 4-stroke outboards has become the benchmark in the design of these engines.
The Honda BF100AK1 LRTU dual-stage air induction works with a shuttle valve built into the Variable Air Intake (VAI) manifold. When fully open, this valve changes the resonance and airflow generating more torque at low rotations. When the throttle valve is fully open and rpm increases, the cooling valve closes and creates airflow directed to the outboard. This provides more power above 3500 rpm. Combined with the BLAST™, you get a disruptive effect.
The special ECOmo poor-blend combustion control system delivers significant fuel economy right through rotations and performance. Once up to speed, much less fuel is consumed. Maintaining this RPM and staying there gives the best results. Once you reach cruising speed, ECOmo automatically and intelligently adjusts the correct air/fuel ratio for that speed. Normally it comes into operation in the green zone (shown on the dial) or when the green Eco light comes on (in case you have multifunctional indicators). Therefore, once you are in the green zone, you can save up to 20% of your fuel. This saving, for a long trip, means a lot more sea.
The Honda BF100AK1 LRT models are NMEA2000® compliant. There is no need to modify the wiring because everything is set up. Simply plug the engine into the CANbus network - the boat's nervous system - for total connectivity and control. Then the outboard can be connected to other NMEA devices such as the navigation system, GPS, sonar devices, sounder and chartplotter. All information, including engine data, will be displayed via the multifunctional indicators.
