HONDA BF80AK1 LRTU Long Shaft Outboard
Honda BF80AK1 LRTU are outboard engines perfect for professional use, they are reliable, compact and lightweight complete with PGM-Fi electronic fuel injection system.
The PGM-Fi electronic fuel injection system featured on the Honda BF80AK1 LRTU outboard allows for easy starting, powerful acceleration and exceptionally low fuel consumption. The VTEC™ system is also available on the BF100. When combined with the ECOmo system, it not only offers outstanding economy, but also remarkable high-rpm performance. These outboards are lightweight and compact, and with NMEA2000® connectivity, they're a big favorite with marine enthusiasts.
Honda BF80AK1 LRTU comes complete with the VTEC, which keeps consumption down while offering an exciting increase in power. First used on Honda BF80AK1 LRTU Formula One cars, it delivers increased power and torque at all engine speeds.
1) When the engine is running at low rpm, the valves are operated less aggressively by a cam for low consumption and performance.
2) When more power is desired, as the engine speed increases to 4500 rpm, the VTEC™ hydraulically operates a cam with a higher lift profile. This keeps the valves open longer, pushing more air into the combustion chamFfuelber to produce optimum power, like a Formula One race car. At this point, the engine takes on a completely different personality that will be evident both to the ear and in performance.
Honda BF80AK1 LRTU triple cooling system keeps the exhaust manifold and cylinder head cooler than the cylinder block. Controlled by two separate thermostats, this innovative technology delivers more power with superior cooling and excellent fuel efficiency.
Honda BF80AK1 LRTU dual-stage air induction works with a shuttle valve built into the Variable Air Intake (VAI) manifold. When fully open, this valve changes the resonance and airflow generating more torque at low rpm. When the throttle valve is fully open and revs up, the cooling valve closes and creates a direct airflow to the engine. This delivers more power above 3500 rpm. Combined with the BLAST™, you get a disruptive effect.
The special ECOmo poor-blend combustion control system delivers significant fuel economy right through and performance. Once up to speed, much less fuel is consumed. Maintaining this staying there gives the best results. Once you reach cruising speed, ECOmo automatically and intelligently adjusts the correct air/fuel ratio for that speed. Normally it comes into operation in the green zone (shown on the dial) or when the green Eco light comes on (in case you have multifunctional indicators). Therefore, once you are in the green zone, you can save up to 20% of your fuel. This savings, for a long trip, means a lot of extra sea.
The Honda BF80AK1 LRTU models are NMEA2000® compliant. There is no need to modify the wiring because everything is set up. Simply plug the engine into the CANbus network - the boat's nervous system - for total connectivity and control. Then the outboard can be connected to other NMEA devices such as the navigation system, GPS, sonar devices, sounder and chartplotter. All information, including engine data, will be displayed via the multifunctional gauges. It's like having a first mate on board, 24 hours a day.
Precise low-speed control is just as important as high-speed handling, especially while fishing. The optional rudder control, through the control bar, simply adjusts the speed in 50 rpm increments, making it ideal for fishing.
