The transformer, on the other hand, is an electrical machine powered by alternating current that is used to transform the different voltage and current of two non-contact circuits. The energy will then pass from the primary circuit which will be the input to the secondary circuit which will be the output.
The transformer is a static and reversible electric machine, which serves to vary (transform) the input parameters (voltage and current intensity) with respect to the output ones, keeping the apparent electric power constant. This device transfers energy from one circuit to another through inductively coupled conductors: the transformer windings. A typical application is in the electrical transformer cabins of the power grid.
